“One flag, one land, one heart, one hand, one nation evermore” a quote from Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr (1809 – 1894). Holmes was an American physician, poet, and professor. This saying was the last line of one of several poems against slavery indicating his desire for a country free from slavery. The flag represents our nations sacrifices and our ability to stand together…to be diverse yet indivisible and unified. The flag represents a past to honor a present of freedom, and a future full of hope.
