Lots of Needle News 8-31-21

Golden Needle
Needle News
Hello Everyone!!
There is a passel of news, no mistake! I haven't had any new news of import and now I have lots. Rains and pours and all that jazz.

Expo - I spent the weekend shopping at the Needlework Expo. I picked up the new charts from most of the designers participating. I also picked up a few new designers like Salty Stitcher Designs, Stitch People and Darling&Whimsy Designs. A totally new thing I am very excited about carrying is Sashiko from Japan. Through the years I have had people ask about this art form, but I didn't have a good supplier. I ordered some starter sets and threads and will be experimenting with them as soon as they come in. (I purchased several items decorated with sashiko when we were stationed there and hopefully that will help!) I am also working on getting Cosmo threads into the shop, but that may take a while. I will post on FB as new charts and things come in!

House - after almost 2 months of almost no showings on my house, we suddenly had 1 to 2 a day for the last week. We accepted an offer this weekend from a lovely family. We have closed on our new house in Texas and have started shifting stuff (so much stuff!). My husband starts his new position in Austin in November, so we have some time to get settled. Our new home is in New Braunfels, and is actually about 10 miles from where I went to high school. Go Coogs! But, my oh my, I always forget what a chore moving is!

Moving Sale - September 13-18 both online and in the shop!
We will have specials and door prizes  and freebies throughout the week. Weather permitting, we are planning on a sidewalk sale on Saturday. As always, we will fill online orders as time permits (frequently the end of the day).

Sit N Stitch Saturday and Wednesday Stitch Night
- The final Saturday Stitch will be September 11th from 1-3pm.
- The final Stitch Night will be September 15th from 6-9pm.
I'm not sure how much stitching we will get done, but do come to one, the other or both events to say goodbye.
If you are able to come, please let me know (I do plan on refreshments of some variety).

Finishing Work - Both of the ladies that do finishing work for us are planning on continuing to accept your stitching through the Golden Needle Embroidery, AKA Jess. You will still be able to bring or send your completed projects to the shop in Port Charlotte and the same fabulous finishers will continue to create wonderful completed items for you. I will either send things to the ladies here from Texas (if they have time!) or find some finishers near me.

Eric's Sewing Machine Repair will continue to use the shop as a drop off/pick up location for your sewing machine repair needs. His schedule will remain unaffected. He arrives like clockwork on Tuesdays and Fridays to retrieve and/or return machines.

Golden Needle Embroidery (Jess) will remain in the same location it has been in for the last couple of decades. The phone number will remain the same, but there will be a new email to reach Jess. Jess began working for me in July of 2018. She purchased the embroidery portion of the shop in January of 2020. I wish her all the best and am confident that she will continue to grow and improve the business.

Golden Needle Cross Stitch and Needlework (me) will officially be closed for sales in Port Charlotte after the 18th of September. I will be packing up the shop during the week(s) following the sale. After we get everything moved to our new house I plan to inventory EVERYTHING and overhaul the website (more pictures and category searches). I will probably be able to open the web-shop before I actually open a phsyical shop. I want to take my time and reacquaint myself with my hometown before I choose a location. In the meantime, the website (goldeneedle.com), email (lisa@goldeneedle.com), and facebook page will remain the same.

As I have said many times, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of my Florida and snow-bird stitchers and I will miss all of you! The last 7 years have been terrific and I thank all of you for making it so wonderful. If you are in Texas, definately drop in! If you need anything or just want to say hi, don't hesitate to drop me a line!
Thanks Y'all and Cheers!
Lisa
